Sunshine and Holidays

Hopefully we can say with some confidence that we will have another weekend like the one we just had. Glorious weather and sunburn abound.

In my defence I was outside for less than an hour reading a book. But it’s not the worst sunburn I have ever had.

It was a lovely weekend in the sun surrounded by friends and lots of food. Lots of BBQ as well. Puppy had a lovely time enjoying the paddling pool that we dug out for her. She spent most of the time digging in the water and drinking it.

She had destroyed her cone of shame and it was time to take it off already so that went in the bin. I think she enjoyed being outside for the the whole weekend, there was only one incident of rolling in cow poo!

Looks to be pleasant enough weather in York for next week but some rain, too. The high temperature while it’s raining will annoy me though. Won’t know what to wear! Too hot for a coat but raining so I’ll get soaked.

Woe is me.

Looking forward to going home just so I can not be here. As is always the way the week before the holiday is the toughest week. We head up to The Farm on Friday night (Friday afternoon if I can get my own way) and then we fly out of Dublin airport on the Saturday afternoon. Makes for a nice relaxing trip actually, as we drive over from Manchester to York in the late afternoon and not in the mad rush hour as we have done before.

Just have to keep thinking about the holiday on Friday. Just get to Friday.

Friiiiday.

Art and Selling It

I’ve bit the bullet and I’m going to start selling my artwork. There’s not much going just yet, other than my infamous Cow 0380. And because I don’t have the resources just yet, it’s only a relatively small print that’s up.

I haven’t the space, or the lighting (or lack of it) in order to take really high resolution photos of my canvasses. So I’m left with the biggest JPEG I’ve ever seen that Society 6 will only print up to 13″x17″…!

Here’s to more options and a few more canvasses photographed in the future. But this is my attempt at trying to do something with my meager talent.

Not everyone likes cattle, I get that, but I find them a delight to paint. If someone at Christmas goes “I’d really love a painting of a cow.” Let me know! I’ll do you a deal :)

Why I Will Come To Hate Pinterest

And why my fiancé will too.

For me it’s down to the fact that it’s full of bad ideas as well as good. Sometimes it will point you in the direction of pure gold, in the form of a check list or printable. But sometimes it just shows you really bad cake ideas, appalling ideas for photography and bible quotes because “your marriage is for God and not for you”. I’m going to create a pinboard called “Anti-Wedding Ideas” and use Pinterest as an anti-wedding planning tool.

For Jonathan it’s because every few minutes I’m telling him about yet another crappy idea on Pinterest and the poor guy seems to think that all I’m finding are bad ideas. So he probably expects this wedding to be all burlap table runners, mason jar drinks, blackboard signs, 50 bridesmaids and 50 groomsmen, crappy dance routines and camouflage paint wedding cakes.

So when it comes to the nuts-and-bolts of the wedding I think I’ll do the good old fashioned wedding magazines.

As for the planning side of things we are doing well. Lots of location ideas and more importantly we know what we want and what we don’t want. The next thing off the list? Hotel wedding.
