As many of you now know we have the internet. Hurrah! I’m going to have an article in the January print of Wildflower Magazine about that one. Let me tell you it’s a doozy!

When we first moved into the new house we just had a few priorities. The first one was of course the living areas. We had to make sure the kitchen was up and running, the bathroom that we would use most worked, the sitting room was comfortable and the bedroom was somewhere we could sleep. The bedroom, due to a slightly broken bed, took a little longer to sort out but within the first week we had those main rooms sorted. The few weeks following the move were all down to putting the rest of the stuff away. One room remains still in a packed state at that’s the craft room. Unfortunately that’s going to remain like that until Jonathan gets around to building a desk for it (which he’s super excited about starting). And lets face it, that room will be for his Lego crafting and every now and again painting for me, or sewing.

The room that is getting nicely sorted is my study. And I love it. Firstly it’s right above the utility room so it’s super warm all the time. As well as that I have the opportunity to put more things on the walls as they’re not slope-y like the old house. I love being surrounded by inspiration and well, other bits and bobs. I really can spend all day in here, and while I was off sick I actually did on many occasions spend whole days in here. Something to do with the amazing office chair I bought.

There are photos, and you can see them here! Still don’t feel quite settled in yet, but that will come in time I’m sure. Especially when things calm down and we can start making the house a home.

In other news I am super excited. My awesome friend of awesome is officially coming to stay in March. Can’t wait to putz around Ireland for a week and a half showing off the sights and sounds! Going to be great fun! The tickets have been bought, all that’s left to do is plan the trip. Have I mentioned I’m excited?

Once again I am back into the peace of the countryside. Well it’s all relative.. as right now there are 100km/h gusts and driving rain so it’s making quite the racket around the new house. Jonathan and I live in Fornaght now, 20 mins out from the outskirts of Cork. Possibly another 10 mins to get into Cork. Another 20 mins to Mallow the other direction. It’s not really in the middle of no where, but it’s close enough.

We’re still unpacking, the only two rooms that I can say are finished are the kitchen and the sitting room. They’re both at a point where they have everything in them that’s meant to be in them. The other rooms just have piles of boxes assigned to them. The main bedroom has all it needs but could do with some more things sorting out. The spare bedroom needs the bed making and bits put away. The study has the desk built but needs shelves and cabinets as well as all the boxes unpacking. The craft room/LEGO room is still just full of boxes and the library (who are we kidding – it’s the sitting/reception room) is currently holding all unassigned boxes. The garage will be sorted out at the last possible moment and the conservatory is just housing comfy chairs and plants at the moment. It’s a bit of a sizable house, we’re very lucky!

This weekend we’ll be unpacking completely and we shall be in a position on Sunday night to finally go “right, these are the pieces of furniture we need next”. Things like bookcases, desks and coffee tables…! The likelihood is that the bookcases we have won’t fit all the books. I never fully unpacked in the last house so there are a lot of things that haven’t seen the light of day since my parents arrived a year ago in the van.

Nothing much is happening after work this week. We’re still sorting out the old house and making sure that it’s up to scratch for the handover this Friday and the depressing thing is with only a lick of paint and a hoover the place is still in better nick than when we arrived last year.

Looking forward to making this a home and looking forward to being able to put up my bits and pieces! Things like my signed Kill Bill poster, and my two huge signed Lord of the Rings framed posters. As well as the prints and rare film posters that are all bundled up. My action figures and some of my Living Dead Dolls (not all of them as there isn’t enough space at all..!). I, of course can’t wait to have people over too. It’ll be tricky what with being so far out but once everything is settled and sorted out then we have more than enough room for people to stay over and tonnes of space for extra cars to be parked up. And I’m looking forward to baking again (Jonathan does all the cooking!).

The only other thing to report on is my new car! Bought a month before the move and I love him. He’s called Mushu and he’s a black and silver Skoda Fabia Sportline. He has a funky red and black interior as well as a most treasured AUX port. Love him to bits, just like Napoleon he isn’t the most efficient car out there but I don’t mind. He’s quick, he makes a lot of noise and he works. Love it!

More photos of the house as and when it’s tidy and it will mostly be room by room. Don’t want to spam the photos…!

Two years ago (give or take) I wrote a post a month into my move to Ireland, here. I always do the thought exercise of “Where will I be…” “What will be happening…” to keep me entertained during those moments I can day dream.

Two years after that post it’s no surprise I was driven to distraction with the job that moved me here. It is a surprise that I got the job with my current employer though. Other surprises include living, once again, in a house with more people than just me, and one of those being a significant other.

A year into the future I really can’t start to imagine with any seriousness. I don’t think I’ll be settled down still, but I will still be in Ireland. If I’m in Cork I’ll still be working here, and hopefully if I am not in Cork I’ll still be working for my current employer. There are a few things that will be certain – I will have pets and I will NOT be in my current role answering calls.

I’ve certainly not been busy by any stretch of the imagination. However any spare time I have here I seem to do anything other than think about work. That can involve going out for a drive, eating out, walking around town, or like today – baking. Now I am back at the computer doing stuff on it other than watching clips of Q.I on YouTube or trying to work out what in the hell Google + is for…

So to talk about interesting things. These past few weeks have seen me complete a few craft projects and start a few more and just today get back into some simple enough baking. I have the theory behind it I just need some technique. Ha.

The cookies exploded in size so they turned out more like a tray bake. Tasty all the same. What we will do next time is make the dough, roll it and pop it into the fridge for a day or so. Then cut it up and pop the slices onto the trays and bake from that.

Make some cup cakes on a bit of a spur of the moment. Decided I had the ingredients but still popped out to Dunnes to get some food colouring. So we now have pink and blue cupcakes as well! Very tasty and full, full of E numbers. Even that famous one in the blue colouring – these cakes aren’t safe for your kids!

Next to be cooked will be a nice, savoury omelette with peppers, tomatoes, spring onions and blue cheese. It’s all well and good cooking all these lovely treats but they really are quite rich and settle quite heavily.

In other news I have a weeks holiday in August around my birthday where I am planning to do bugger all, and I am really looking forward to it. There was talk to go back to the UK but Jacko has landed a new job and we decided to wait on going over so we could save a bit more. So the UK trip is scheduled tentatively for the back end of September through to the start of October. Just in time for my Dad’s 60th birthday.

Other news in brief: Updated the computers to Mac OSX Lion and I am loving it. Works like a dream on the MacBook. Have another book to read. It’s set out much like a University course so this should add some structure to my writing and give me some useful exercises to try out. I am also back in WoW again after a few weeks of forgetting about it. If you’re on Eonar-EU-Horde come say hello!

That’s all for the time being as I have some more writing that I need to finish off. As always I will keep you posted on new happenings here!
